USGCB remediation on 64-bit Win7

Postby rhaas@nasa.gov » Mon Dec 27, 2010 9:06 am

Greetings.

I'm attempting to use the Secutor Prime Pro product to perform USGCB OS, IE8, and Firewall Setting remediation on a locally installed Windows 7 64-bit OS, and it does not seem to work.

The assessments seem to find the same number of Fail items regardless how many times the Fix action is selected, and irrespective of whether the assessment is done against the 32-bit or 64-bit settings.

The SP.exe is version 3, build 3032, activated with our SP2 license key, following a fresh install and system restart.

Is there a known problem with the USGCB remediation content on Windows 7?

Thanks for any insight.

Got this word from support.threatguard@gmail.com:

We have not yet started distributing the remediation content for Windows 7. [snip] We recently received word that Secutor Prime Version 4 has passed SCAP validation. After NIST makes the news official by updating the SCAP Tools site, we’ll be releasing the upgrades. That release will include Remediation content for Win7 and IE8.

Thanks for the speedy response.

Any idea when the remediation content for Windows 7 will be released? Will this require an upgrade to version 4 and will that upgrade be fairly seamless?

Thanks in advance
Tom

Tom,

Version 4 of Secutor Prime is scheduled to be released by Feb 16, 2011. That version will include Windows 7 remediation content.
